The first Arizona high school football rankings for big schools was released this week by the Arizona Interscholastic Association. As expected, it caused quite the reaction from the community.
Three 5A football programs -- Marana, Desert Mountain and Higley -- stood atop the Open Division rankings. The first 6A program was Basha at No. 4, followed by Brophy.
It made many question the legitimacy of a computer compiling the rankings. That's the reason Hypamark created the Statewide Media Composite Rankings. Real people, not a computer, who cover all the action on a weekly basis.
